Hello, I'm Kelly

I’m the designer behind Wren Cake Design, creating contemporary wedding cakes for couples throughout Cumbria and the Lake District. A romantic at heart, I absolutely adore weddings and it’s a genuine honour to be part of such an important day in your lives. I work closely with each couple, drawing inspiration from your wedding as a whole to create a cake that feels entirely unique to you.

After studying Fine Art at college, I fell into a career in Project Management. While I enjoyed it, the corporate world was never quite where my heart was, and baking quickly became my escape from endless spreadsheets and video calls. When the opportunity came to combine my love of cakes with my love of art, I went for it—and chose a life that was a little less Alan Sugar and a little more sugar, sugar.

For nearly a decade I’ve been creating wedding cakes full time, combining my background in art with a love of beautiful design and exceptional flavour. When I’m not crafting sugar flowers or designing a show-stopping centrepiece, you’ll usually find me watching a 90’s romcom, spending time with my family, or enjoying a French martini (or two!).

I’m lucky to work closely with and be recommended to some of Cumbria’s most exclusive wedding venues, including Hidden River Barn, Town Head Estate, Eden Barn, Gilpin Lake House, Armathwaite Hall and The Inn on the Lake amongst many others. A Wren Romance

Wrens symbolise creativity, simplicity, and the quiet beauty of nature. Often found throughout the Lake District, these small, friendly birds are the essence of understated elegance and grace.

Wren Cake Design was created to reflect this—rooted in nature and celebration, and inspired by creativity, poetry, and the stories behind each couple I work with. The brand is about finding beauty in simplicity, and creating cakes that feel calm, considered, and deeply connected to the day they’re made for.

There is a quiet rhythm to nature here in Cumbria that constantly inspires my work, alongside the romantic stories and connections I see in my couples.
