One of the things I love most about Town Head Estate is how effortlessly it blends rustic character with contemporary elegance. The restored barn provides a beautiful backdrop for wedding styling, while the surrounding parkland and lakeside views create a sense of tranquillity that feels quintessentially Lake District.
When designing a wedding cake for a venue like Town Head Estate, I always take inspiration from the setting itself. Rather than creating a cake that simply follows a trend, I prefer to incorporate colours, textures and details that feel connected to the venue and the wider wedding design. This helps the cake feel like a natural part of the celebration, complementing the flowers, stationery and styling throughout the day.
The generous reception space also allows for a truly impactful cake display. Whether styled with fresh flowers, candles or statement cake stands, a wedding cake can become a beautiful focal point and an integral part of the overall wedding décor.
This styled shoot perfectly captures the relaxed elegance of a barn wedding, with soft botanical styling inspired by the surrounding landscape. Classic white florals and abundant foliage echoed the natural beauty of the estate, creating a timeless and romantic aesthetic.
For the wedding cake design, I wanted to create a cake that felt completely at home within the venue. The bottom tier featured a textured olive green finish with delicate touches of gold, inspired by the weathered barn walls and surrounding greenery. Soft caramel tones on the upper tiers added warmth and softness, while fresh eucalyptus and ruscus brought the design together beautifully.
The cake was displayed on a modern hoop cake stand dressed with foliage, adding height, movement and an eye-catching focal point within the reception space. Thoughtful styling like this can transform a wedding cake into a true centrepiece.
