Eden Barn in Cumbria is a stunning family run wedding venue full of rustic elegance, in the heart of the upper Eden Valley.
The barn is a perfect mix of old world charm and character, combined with modern touches. A beautiful fairy lit ceremony followed by outdoor reception drinks on the terrace? Yes please!
Leann at Bridgerow flowers came up with a concept that focused on natural relaxed floral arrangements in peachy tones, with soft styling that complemented the brick and wood features of the barn.
Tables were dressed with hand dyed runners, vintage glassware and paper place cards with beautiful calligraphy by Jill Liley.
I’ve been lucky enough to create quite a few cakes for weddings at Eden Barn, and I’ve always felt inspired by the laid back style, so I knew exactly what I wanted to create for the cake design…
Torn paper style ruffles, with rice paper and sugar blossoms in neutral tones covered most of the 4 tiers, working with the colours of the florals and backdrops. Keeping the top part of the cake clean and crisp in smooth white sugarpaste added an elegant edge to the cake, and it was finished with a delicate handmade sugar rose.
I love to create wedding cake designs that echo the overall theme and mood of the day and have small personal touches such as sugar flowers to match bouquets or buttonholes, or details inspired by the wedding dress.
What unique details would you like to include on your wedding cake? I’d love to hear!
